GTA 6 Scams to Avoid Before Launch

Rockstar has not run a public beta, technical test, or early access program for GTA 6. Any site, Discord server or video offering beta access, early keys, or a downloadable build is running a scam.

These typically harvest payment details or account credentials, or push malware disguised as an installer. The tell is simple: a product that does not exist cannot be sold.

Storefronts advertising GTA 6 accounts with high levels, in-game cash, unlocked vehicles or "instant delivery" are selling something that cannot exist before the game ships. No account can have progress in an unreleased game.

Beyond being undeliverable, buying or selling game accounts violates Rockstar’s terms of service, and accounts involved in such transactions are subject to permanent bans. The money and the account are both at risk.

GTA 6 pre-orders are sold through official channels: the Rockstar Store, the PlayStation Store, and the Xbox Store. Third-party pages offering steep discounts on pre-orders are generally either selling stolen keys or selling nothing at all.

A legitimate new AAA release does not get discounted 60 percent before launch. Price is the clearest signal available.

Pre-order only from Rockstar, PlayStation or Xbox directly. Use a payment method with chargeback protection. Ignore any offer that requires a Discord handoff, crypto payment, or a "verification" deposit.

If an offer depends on you acting before a countdown expires, that urgency is the product. Real storefronts do not need it.

In September 2026, Spotify put up GTA 6-branded billboards in LA, New York and Miami using the same artist artwork Rockstar had issued for its own soundtrack-album announcement. The billboards are genuinely real and photographed by press — but no Rockstar/Spotify partnership, in-app playlist, or integration has actually been announced.

This is a useful pattern to recognize: a real, physically-existing ad campaign does not by itself confirm the deeper claim (a partnership, an in-game feature, a release detail) that people online will assume from it. Check for an official Rockstar Newswire post or a joint statement before treating "I saw a billboard" as confirmation of anything beyond the billboard itself.

Rockstar’s official "Goodtime State — Vice City Collection" ($399.99) is a real, legitimate product sold on Rockstar’s own store — not a scam. But it does not include a copy of the game, and its announcement drew genuine buyer confusion over that exact point.

The lesson isn’t about this specific box being fraudulent; it’s a reminder to read official merchandise listings carefully before paying $400 assuming a game copy is bundled in. This applies doubly to any third-party reseller offering a similar "collector’s bundle" — verify exactly what is and isn’t included before buying.
